PULL UP - Issue #1
Prince Georgians (and others in D.C., Maryland, Virginia region) welcome to CONTEXT, a newsletter produced by The Intersection Magazine. You may not know a lot about The Intersection Magazine. That's fine. The Intersection is kind of new around Prince George's County, and the DMV area.
A Small Intro
The Intersection Magazine is a small digital publication that covers Prince George's County, Maryland, and sometimes D.C. The media organization specifically reports on the intersection of religion, technology, and politics. The Intersection does not report breaking news. Instead, The Intersection is interested in long-form journalism.
What Is the Context Newsletter?
This newsletter exists to highlight some major news stories floating around on the internet, to amplify Prince George's County resident's voices, and - most importantly - to help connect the dots.
Darrell Florence, a media entrepreneur, wrote about the value of reporting with context.
"Context is important because it allows me to make more informed decisions when interacting with people and the world around me. When there is no time taken on your part to frame the issue, we get confused as to what you are talking about. It’s like you guys are always in media res, and you never give us a place to start."
What Can You Expect?
Great question. You can expect links to news articles that report on issues in and around P.G. County. You can expect interviews from elected officials as well as community members, and in-depth editorials explaining, what some may consider, complex issues. This newsletter seeks to add to existing knowledge, and push forward solutions. So...think of this newsletter as a follow-up conversation.
We will also take recommendations from our audience/followers. What would you like to know more about? Who would like for the Context to interview?
Subscribe, and the newsletter will soon hit your inbox.
If you haven't done so, make sure you follow The Intersection Magazine on Twitter @MagIntersect. You can contact Context at contextnewsletter@gmail.com
