Advocacy In Fort Washington
Fort Washington Forward is an organization that is trying to put its community on the map. (See their website). David Owens, president of Fort Washington Forward, issued a Facebook post, showing what he advocated for at the Prince George's County Planning Board Budget Forum. Owens wants "increased signage in and around Henson Creek Trail on Oxon Hill Road." Here is an excerpt of the words he spoke at the Forum.
Excerpt:
Good evening, I’m Dave Owens, President of Fort Washington Forward. We are a state-certified 501c3 that strategizes ways to increase smart development, investment and sustainability in Fort Washington. First of all I want to say how much we appreciate you Chairman Shapiro, and the rest of the Commissioners of the Planning Board for having this public comment opportunity.
Fort Washington Forward strongly requests that two things be part of the FY 2024 Parks and Recreation budget.
First. We strongly request increased signage and wayfinding in and around Henson Creek Trail on Oxon Hill Road.

Will The FBI Headquarters Come To P.G. County?
Congressmen Kweisi Mfume, Congressman Anthony G. Brown, County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, and Maryland House Delegate Adrienne A. Jones wrote a letter to the Biden administration asking that Prince George's County be considered for the final location of the FBI headquarters. Excerpt:
Two of the three sites in the final-selection round are in Prince George’s County, the largest majority Black jurisdiction in the region, which has not seen an equitable share of federal office space.
“Prince George’s County remains the best positioned to serve as the home of the FBI’s new consolidated headquarters,” the leaders wrote. “The county offers a talented and educated workforce ready to support such an investment while taking the best advantage of its economic impact to grow local communities that have historically been left behind in allocations of federal office space.”
The leaders continued, “We hope you will take all of these factors into strong consideration when making a final decision on site selection. Choosing a site in Prince George’s County would not only be good for the FBI, national security, and the environment; it would also further the Biden-Harris Administration’s important equity goals.”
