Angela Alsobrooks Is Speaking At The DNC Tonight/ Day 1 at The DNC : Police Arrest Protests And Palestine Panel at the DNC
According to the Baltimore Banner, Prince George’s County, County Executive Angela Alsobrooks will speak at The Democratic National Convention tonight.
It’s not clear what time she will take the platform. Here is what the Banner reported:
Excerpt: In her bid to become Maryland’s next U.S. senator, Angela Alsobrooks will get a rare, prime-time moment in the spotlight Tuesday night as she takes to the stage of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Alsobrooks is scheduled to take the stage at about 10 p.m., during the most-watched hour of the night that’s likely to be carried live on national broadcast TV networks.
Currently the Prince George’s County executive, Alsobrooks is locked in a campaign with Republican former governor Larry Hogan for an open U.S. Senate seat. It’s one of a handful of Senate elections that could determine control of the chamber.
The Alsobrooks camp is hoping for a boost from her appearance at the convention, where the party faithful are newly energized by the candidacy of presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Alsobrooks will talk about her personal and professional relationship with Harris, forged when both were prosecutors — Harris as California’s attorney general and Alsobrooks as the Prince George’s County state’s attorney before she became county executive.

Protests Take Place Outside The Democratic National Convention
Excerpt: As the 2024 Democratic National Convention kicked off Monday in Chicago, thousands of protestors took to the city’s streets to demand an end to Democratic politicians’ support for Israel’s war in Gaza, where the death toll reached 40,000 late last week, and where United Nations experts have announced widespread starvation.
Two separate protests were planned and organized months in advance, one by the Coalition to March on the DNC, composed of hundreds of local and national organizations including the Palestinian Youth Movement, Black Lives Matter Chicago, and Jewish Voice for Peace.

Doctors, activists, and members of Palestinians killed in Gaza held a panel at the Democratic National Convention. Democracy Now covered that portion of the convention.
